Activity:
Design
and field support of power and propulsion systems for mobile hydraulic cranes and excavators. Primary expertise in hydraulic
power systems with emphasis on power matching to engines, transmission, and drivetrain. High performance hydraulic systems
operating at 5000 PSI using inlet pressure compensation and section load compensation along with variable volume pressure
compensated pumps.
· Design cushion hydraulic cylinders for 2 ½ yard excavator operating at 5000 PSI
· Develop engineering standard design procedure for hydraulic cylinders including buckling analysis
· Develop engineering standards for testing and evaluating new system designs and improvements
· Develop bearing system for high-load cylinders
· Design 10-port rotary joint for 25 ton rough terrain crane
· Design complete hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control system for Omega 60, 60 ton rough terrain crane
· Design re-power (Deutz engine and Funk transmission) for Omega 40, 40 ton rough terrain crane
· Design 60 ton rough terrain crane re-power with turbo-charged engine
· Simplification and cost reduction of pressure compensated hydraulic system for 25 ton truck crane saving
$3300 per machine
· Liason to manufacturing for hydraulic systems used in entire product line
· Field service engineering liason for entire product line
· Hydraulic swing system re-design for improved performance of 75 ton truck crane
· Flameless heater design for use on 25 ton rough terrain crane in explosive environment
· Design winterization system for 25 ton truck crane in acrtic service
· Technical paper on “Mobil Hydraulic Reservoir Design”
· Technical paper on “Selection and Application of Mobile Hydraulic Valves”
· Technical paper on “Compressibility of Two-Phase Mixture of Oil and Air”
· Technical papers and engineering guides for the selection and application of hydraulic pumps, motors, and
filters
· Administrative:
· Manage one to six engineers and draftsmen depending on the scope of project
· Represent P&H at customer sales conferences
· Aid in writing technical manuals for field service
· Schedule and bid projects for cost, manpower, and time
· Represent P&H on technical recruiting trips including candidate interview and analysis
